Serving Rockland County, NY and Bergen County, NJ
From an early age I have been intrigued and fascinated about how the body works.
It seems I have always been studying the systems and components of the body. Even as a young boy I was (reading, researching, enjoying-excelling in science?) When I went to college at SUNY Albany it was only natural that I major in Biology. I was in a pre-med curriculum and on the fast-track to Medical School but there was a problem. After years of skiing and playing competitive tennis, I had a herniated disc in my lower back. The doctors I consulted told me I would need surgery. I desperation I made an appointment with a Chiropractor although, at the time, I had a pre-conceived notion about Chiropractors. My belief then, I like most people, was that their training was inferior to Medical doctors and Chiropractic treatment was a scam.
Many years later I can tell you that thanks to Chiropractic, I avoided surgery, got better and enjoy a healthy and active lifestyle. As I got better I began learning what Chiropractic really was and everything made perfect sense. It was so simple. When the bones in the spine move freely, there is no pressure on the nerves and the body remains healthy. When the spine is out of alignment it’s harder for the body to heal itself and your health declines. I learned that the body miraculous machine and has an amazing capacity to heal itself. I experienced that what a chiropractor does is help the body to heal by gently removing the pressure from the spine. This experience changed my life and career path and I decided to change from premed to Chiropractic school.
I moved to Atlanta (from New York?) in 1996 and attended Life University, the largest (and most respected?) Chiropractic school in the world. The first day of classes was amazing. Everyone was telling stories about how chiropractic changed their lives. All the stories were very similar. “I had chronic headaches until I saw a Chiropractor” or “I had a frozen shoulder until my friend brought me to his Chiropractor”. I became even more impassioned and committed to becoming a Chiropractor. I couldn’t wait to start practicing! In 2000, I graduated Cum Laude and moved back to my home state of New York.
In the (Spring?) of 2000 I joined a Chiropractic office in lower Manhattan from that practiced “straight” chiropractic. That means that the only thing we did was “adjust” the patients spine. From 2001-2003 I worked in a “multi-disciplinary” office where the practice model had many different specialties under one roof including Chiropractors, Orthopedists, Neurologists, Physical Therapists, and PCPs. I liked different aspects of each practice model and have incorporated them into my own practice.
In 2003, I opened my own office, Access Health Chiropractic P.C. I opened the office in Rockland county New York where I was born and raised. My first office had only 2 treatment rooms plus an x-ray room. Within 5 years, I had enough patients that I had to move my office into a larger space. In 2008, I moved to my current chiropractic office in Suffern New York. In our office we have 6 well-appointed treatment rooms, on site x-ray machine, a relaxing dry water massage table and many physiotherapies (what does this mean in simple terms?). Every day I get out of bed feeling very lucky to do this work.
My philosophy is simple. Provide the highest level of service in a friendly environment while working with most insurances and charging a reasonable fee for those without. I give consultations at no charge. During the consultation I explain what is going on in your body in simple, easy to understand terms.
Giving back to the community is another important aspect of my life. I have the honor of receiving the 2010 Forty under 40 award and have served as President of BNI. In addition I regularly speak about health and wellness to local companies and schools.
I understand the concerns of someone who has never been to a Chiropractor; I was there myself. I also know how I was healed and have seen the reduction of pain and suffering in hundreds of patients over the years.
If there is something that has not been right in your body, if you have been to doctors that say they can’t help you or the only alternative is surgery, give us a call. With a free phone conversation and free in-person consultation we can determine how we can help you achieve a healthier, more active lifestyle.
I’m looking forward to meeting you!
